Coffee is where Tim Hortons started, and brewed coffee is still the heart of the menu. A small Original Blend starts at $1.59 to $1.65, and one price ladder covers Original Blend, Dark Roast and Decaf across four sizes. This page sets out the Tim Hortons coffee line for Canada: every size with its price range and calories, the cream and sugar builds Canadians order by name, and the caffeine in each cup.
Prices are printed as ranges on purpose. Tim Hortons has no single national price: each restaurant sits in a price cluster, so the same medium costs a bit more in one city than in another. The ranges below are the set checked for this site on October 27, 2026. Calories come from one source only, the official Tim Hortons Nutrition Guide, Canadian Edition, July 2026. The caffeine figures are the company’s own published values, set out in full on the Caffeine Guide.
Coffee at a glance
- Cheapest cup: a Small brewed coffee, $1.59 to $1.65
- Cup sizes: Small 296 mL, Medium 414 mL, Large 591 mL, Extra Large 710 mL
- Poured black: 3 to 5 calories a cup at any size
- Strongest cup: an Extra Large Original Blend at 330 mg of caffeine
- Cream and sugar: no extra charge at most stores, so a Double Double costs the same as a black coffee
The brewed coffee lineup
Three coffees share the one ladder. Original Blend is the house roast, the smooth everyday cup most people mean when they order a Tim Hortons coffee. Dark Roast is the bolder cup, roasted darker for a heavier taste, and it costs exactly the same at every size. Decaf is the same style of drink without the caffeine kick, also at the same price. Poured black, all three sit at 3 to 5 calories a cup, which makes brewed coffee the lightest drink on the hot board.
The builds sit on the same cards. A Double Double is the coffee with two creams and two sugars, a Regular is one cream and one sugar, and a Triple Triple is three of each, and each build is poured on Original Blend or Dark Roast. The seasonal Brown Sugar Cream Coffee is a brewed coffee too, and it sits in the card set below; Tim Hortons does not publish a price or a calorie count for it, so its card says so rather than guessing.
Lattes, cappuccinos and the rest of the espresso line sit on the Hot Drinks page, with the teas and hot chocolate.

Sizes and prices
The four cups were renamed in January 2012, when the old small became the new extra small and every size moved up a name. What did not change is the shape of the ladder: each step up costs a few dimes and adds a lot of coffee.
| Size | Cup | Price | Calories, poured black |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small | 296 mL (10 oz) | $1.59 to $1.65 | 3 cal |
| Medium | 414 mL (14 oz) | $1.83 to $2.09 | 4 cal |
| Large | 591 mL (20 oz) | $2.07 to $2.29 | 5 cal |
| Extra Large | 710 mL (24 oz) | $2.35 to $2.69 | 5 cal |
Size changes the value as much as the price. A Small works out to roughly $0.54 per 100 mL, while a Large drops to about $0.35 to $0.39 per 100 mL, so the bigger cup is the cheaper way to drink the same coffee. Feeding a crew instead? The Take Twelve packs twelve cups of brewed coffee into one carry box for about $19.99 to $23.99, in Original Blend, Dark Roast or Decaf. The full menu with prices for every category sits on the Prices page, and every drink on one page sits on the Full Menu page.
Cream, sugar and the builds
Cream and sugar cost nothing extra at most stores, so the builds all ring in at the black coffee price for their size. The calories are where they part ways. The Double Double figures below are built from the official guide’s own cream and sugar rows, the same build this site uses on its cards and its calculator.
| Build | Small | Medium | Large | Extra Large |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Black | 3 cal | 4 cal | 5 cal | 5 cal |
| Regular (1 cream, 1 sugar) | 70 cal | 100 cal | 120 cal | 150 cal |
| Double Double (2 creams, 2 sugars) | 143 cal | 194 cal | 255 cal | 305 cal |
A Medium Double Double carries about 20 grams of sugar. A Triple Triple is simply three creams and three sugars, one step sweeter again; the guide publishes no calorie count for it, so the cards leave it as not published. Swapping cream for 2% milk drops the addition to 15 to 40 calories by size. To run your exact order, add the drink and size in the nutrition calculator, or check the full nutrition facts table, which covers all 346 items in the official guide.
Caffeine in a brewed coffee
These are the caffeine values Tim Hortons has published for its brewed coffee in Canada, printed plainly by drink and size.
| Drink | Small | Medium | Large | Extra Large |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Original Blend Coffee | 140 mg | 205 mg | 270 mg | 330 mg |
| Dark Roast Coffee | 130 mg | 195 mg | 260 mg | 315 mg |
| Decaf Coffee | 6 mg | 9 mg | 12 mg | 15 mg |
Two things catch people out. Dark Roast tastes stronger than Original Blend, but it runs a little lower at every size: the darker flavour is the roast, not extra caffeine. And cream and sugar change the calories, not the caffeine, so a Double Double carries the same milligrams as the coffee poured into it. Read the ladder against Health Canada’s maximum of 400 mg a day for a healthy adult: one Medium at 205 mg is about half the day, and two Mediums come to 410 mg, already over. The full chart for every drink, hot and cold, is on the Caffeine Guide.
FAQs
Brewed coffee runs from $1.59 to $2.69 before tax, depending on size: $1.59 to $1.65 for a Small, $1.83 to $2.09 for a Medium, $2.07 to $2.29 for a Large and $2.35 to $2.69 for an Extra Large. The exact price depends on the restaurant.
A Medium is 414 mL, which is 14 ounces. The full run of cups is Small 296 mL (10 oz), Medium 414 mL (14 oz), Large 591 mL (20 oz) and Extra Large 710 mL (24 oz).
A Double Double is a coffee with two creams and two sugars. It is the most Canadian order on the board, and at most stores it costs the same as a black coffee of the same size, because cream and sugar carry no extra charge.
Built from the official guide’s cream and sugar rows: 143 calories for a Small, 194 for a Medium, 255 for a Large and 305 for an Extra Large. A Medium carries about 20 grams of sugar.
A Regular is one cream and one sugar; a Double Double is two of each. Both cost the same as a black coffee of the same size. The calories tell the story: a Regular runs 70 to 150 by size, a Double Double 143 to 305.
A Triple Triple is a coffee with three creams and three sugars. It follows the same naming pattern as a Double Double, one step sweeter and creamier, and it costs the same as a black coffee of the same size.
A Large Original Blend carries 270 mg of caffeine on the company’s published figures, and a Large Dark Roast carries 260 mg. Health Canada sets the adult daily maximum at 400 mg, so one Large leaves about 130 mg for the rest of the day.
The same as the coffee in it. Cream and sugar add calories, not caffeine, so a Medium Double Double made on Original Blend carries 205 mg, a Large 270 mg, and a decaf Double Double only 6 mg in a Small up to 15 mg in an Extra Large.
Yes. Decaf is a standard brewed coffee on the menu, priced the same as Original Blend at most stores, at 3 to 5 calories a cup poured black. It is low in caffeine rather than free of it: 6 mg in a Small up to 15 mg in an Extra Large.
No. Prices vary by restaurant and by province, which is why this page prints ranges instead of one figure. Tax differs too: Ontario adds 13% HST on a coffee, while Alberta charges 5% GST only.
