Tim Hortons Tea & Hot Chocolate Menu in Canada

Tim Hortons tea

Not every Tims run is a coffee run. The Tim Hortons tea side of the board starts with a plain cup of steeped Orange Pekoe at $1.79 to $1.89 for a Small, runs through the bagged specialty teas and two tea lattes, and the hot chocolate beside it is the drink a lot of Canadian kids grow up on. This page sets out the tea and hot chocolate line for Canada: every drink with its price range, its calories and its caffeine.

Prices are printed as ranges on purpose. Tim Hortons has no single national price: each restaurant sits in a price cluster, so the same medium costs a bit more in one city than in another. The ranges below are the set checked for this site on October 27, 2026. Calories come from one source only, the official Tim Hortons Nutrition Guide, Canadian Edition, July 2026. The caffeine figures are the company’s own published values, set out in full on the Caffeine Guide.

The tea lineup

Tea is served two ways at Tim Hortons. Steeped Tea is Orange Pekoe brewed in the pot like coffee, so it pours ready to drink, and it comes in that one blend only. Specialty Tea is the bagged range: a tea bag in hot water, with the flavour choice in it, from Orange Pekoe, English Breakfast and Earl Grey to Chai, Green Tea and the Tropical Green Tea, plus herbal flavours and a Decaffeinated Orange Pekoe. Steeped and bagged sit on the same price ladder, $1.79 to $1.89 for a Small up to $2.59 to $2.69 for an Extra Large, and both pour at 0 calories plain.

The two tea lattes sit above the ladder. A London Fog is an Earl Grey tea latte with vanilla and steamed milk, priced at $3.29, $3.79 and $4.29 across its three sizes. The Chai Latte is the spiced tea latte; its calories are published (150 in a Small, 230 in a Medium, 310 in a Large), but its price is not one set figure across Canada, so its card reads varies by store rather than printing a number that would be wrong in half the country. The brewed coffees have their own page, Tim Hortons Coffee, and the full hot board sits on the Hot Drinks page.

Prices are ranges checked on October 27, 2026, because Tim Hortons prices vary by restaurant. Calories come from the official Tim Hortons Nutrition Guide, Canadian Edition, July 2026.

Hot chocolate

Hot Chocolate is the classic: a sweet cocoa drink in all four cup sizes, from $1.99 to $2.39 for a Small up to $2.79 to $3.19 for an Extra Large. White Hot Chocolate is the white chocolate version at the same prices in most stores, and it runs richer: 250 calories in a Small against 220 for the regular, and 570 in an Extra Large against 500. In season, the Candy Cane Hot Chocolate and the Candy Cane White Hot Chocolate join the board for the holidays. Tim Hortons publishes no price ladder and no calorie count for the two Candy Cane drinks, so their cards say varies by store and not published instead of guessing.

Prices and calories

One ladder covers the three plain teas, so a cup of Steeped Tea, Specialty Tea or Tropical Green Tea costs the same at a given size. The tea lattes come in Small, Medium and Large only.

The 0-calorie line for tea holds only while the cup stays plain. Milk, cream and sugar are where tea calories arrive, the same as coffee. The full menu with prices for every category sits on the Prices page, every drink on one page sits on the Full Menu page, and the full nutrition facts table covers all 346 items in the official guide.

Caffeine in tea and hot chocolate

These are the caffeine values Tim Hortons has published for its teas and hot chocolate in Canada, printed plainly by drink and size.

Steeped Tea, made with whole leaf90 mg125 mg175 mg210 mg
Orange Pekoe, English Breakfast, Earl Grey or Chai (bagged)50 mg70 mg100 mg170 mg
Green Tea (bagged)25 mg35 mg50 mg60 mg
Decaffeinated Orange Pekoe6 mg9 mg12 mg15 mg
Hot Chocolate15 mg20 mg30 mg35 mg

Steeped Tea runs higher than a bagged tea of the same size because it is brewed in the pot rather than steeped in the cup: an Extra Large reaches 210 mg, more than a Medium coffee. Two claims are worth clearing up. Hot chocolate is not caffeine free: cocoa carries a small amount, 15 mg in a Small up to 35 mg in an Extra Large, which is low but not zero in an evening cup for kids. And the herbal teas, Honey Lemon, Apple Cinnamon, Chamomile and Peppermint, plus the seasonal Pumpkin Spice tea, are caffeine free. Tim Hortons does not publish a caffeine figure for the London Fog, the Chai Latte or White Hot Chocolate, so none is printed here. Read the ladder against Health Canada’s maximum of 400 mg a day for a healthy adult: one Extra Large Steeped Tea is about half of it. The full chart for every drink, hot and cold, is on the Caffeine Guide.

FAQs

One kind: Orange Pekoe. Steeped Tea is brewed in the pot ahead of pouring, and Orange Pekoe is the only blend served that way. The flavour choice sits in the bagged specialty range instead.

Yes. Steeped tea is brewed ahead in the pot and comes in Orange Pekoe only, while specialty tea is a single tea bag in hot water with a full range of flavours. The steeped cup also carries more caffeine, 90 to 210 mg by size against 50 to 170 mg for a bagged black tea.

90 mg in a Small, 125 mg in a Medium, 175 mg in a Large and 210 mg in an Extra Large. That puts an Extra Large Steeped Tea just above a Medium Original Blend coffee, so size down or switch to a bagged tea if you are watching the day’s total.

Zero, at every size, poured plain. The calories arrive only with what goes into the cup: milk, cream and sugar each add their own, the same as they do in a coffee.

No sugar by default. A steeped tea is served plain, and any sweetness in the cup is the sugar or sweetener added to your order.

Yes, in the bagged range: Decaffeinated Orange Pekoe runs 6 mg of caffeine in a Small up to 15 mg in an Extra Large, so it is low rather than zero. The steeped tea itself does not come in a decaf version.

Yes. The Specialty Tea card is the bagged range: Orange Pekoe, English Breakfast, Earl Grey, Chai and Green Tea, plus herbal flavours such as Peppermint and Chamomile and seasonal options, all on the same price ladder as the steeped tea.

Yes. Hot Chocolate and White Hot Chocolate are on the board all year in Small, Medium, Large and Extra Large, and the Candy Cane Hot Chocolate and Candy Cane White Hot Chocolate join them in season.

A small amount: 15 mg in a Small, 20 mg in a Medium, 30 mg in a Large and 35 mg in an Extra Large. It comes from the cocoa, and it is a fraction of what the same size of coffee carries.

220 calories in a Small, 280 in a Medium, 380 in a Large and 500 in an Extra Large. White Hot Chocolate runs higher at the same sizes: 250, 330, 430 and 570.
