Tim Hortons Hash Brown

The Tim Hortons Hash Brown is the small golden potato patty that turns up beside half the breakfast orders in the country. One fried patty, crisp outside and soft in the middle, it sells for $1.99 to $2.19. At 120 calories it is the lightest food item on the breakfast board.

It usually arrives as an add-on: beside a breakfast sandwich, inside a Farmer’s Wrap, or in a loaded box. This page covers the patty on its own: price, full nutrition from the official guide, and the allergen fact that makes it stand out, a blank row.

Allergens: a blank row

In the official Allergen Guide (Canadian Edition, July 2026), the Hash Brown is one of few food items with a blank row: no mark, Contains or May Contain, in any of the ten allergen columns (wheat and gluten, milk, egg, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, fish and shellfish, sesame, mustard, sulphites). It is also one of only seven breakfast items with no wheat or gluten mark, which is why it appears on the Gluten-Free page.

A blank row is not a guarantee. Kitchens are shared, and counters and fryers handle wheat, egg and milk all day, so cross-contact can happen. Anyone with an allergy should check the Allergens page and ask at the counter.

On sale past breakfast

You do not need to catch the morning rush. Breakfast items stay on sale all day at most Canadian locations, the Hash Brown included. The egg builds carry the clock: the company’s own store pages put freshly cracked eggs until 4 PM, and with no egg in it, the patty outlasts them. Each store sets its own lineup; a quick look in the app settles it. See Breakfast Hours for more.

How it compares

Set against its neighbours, the Tim Hortons Hash Brown is the cheap, light option. The Potato Wedges at lunch cost more, carry 170 calories and more than double the sodium. A full breakfast runs higher: the Scrambled Egg Loaded Box, hash browns included, is 440 calories, with no separate price published. The patty’s biggest role is inside the Sausage Farmer’s Wrap, at 640 calories and $5.49 to $5.79.

FAQs

Yes. Breakfast items stay on sale all day at most Canadian locations, the Hash Brown included, so an afternoon order is normal. Stores set their own hours, so check your store in the Tims app.

The Hash Brown is the item most people mean here. In the official allergen guide it carries no egg or milk mark, in fact no mark in any column, and it stays on sale all day at most stores. Tim Hortons certifies nothing as vegan, though, and the kitchens are shared, so read it as a no-egg, no-milk item cooked in a shared kitchen, not a certified vegan one.

Hash browns and the baked goods are the safest bet. Most locations keep breakfast items on all day anyway; where a store runs a cut-off, the egg builds end first, and the company’s own store pages put freshly cracked eggs until 4 PM. With no egg in it, the Hash Brown is one of the last breakfast items to leave the board.
