Tim Hortons Vegan and Vegetarian Options in Canada

Tim Hortons vegan options are not a menu section, and nothing at the counter carries a vegan or vegetarian label. What does exist is the official allergen guide, and this page is built from it row by row. Every item below was checked against the Tim Hortons Allergen Guide, Canadian Edition, July 2026, and the calories come from the official Nutrition Guide of the same date.

Read the next part before the tables, because it sets what the tables can and cannot say. An item with no mark in the guide’s Milk column and no mark in its Egg column carries neither ingredient, per the guide. That is evidence about milk and egg, and nothing more. It is not a vegan certification. Honey is not covered by the allergen columns, and neither is any ingredient outside them, and food is prepared in shared kitchens, so cross contact is always possible. The guide itself shows why the care is needed: its Beef Chili row carries no milk or egg mark at all, and chili is still a beef build. So this page runs two tests on every row, the milk and egg marks, and a plain read of the item’s name and category to screen out meat builds.

Tier 1: no milk and no egg marks in the guide

This is the closest to vegan set the official guide can build, with the limits stated above. A blank in both columns is the whole test, and each quencher flavour appears once below with its two clean builds side by side. The third build of each quencher, the Frozen build, is not here: the guide marks Milk: Contains for all four Frozen Quenchers.

The food side of Tier 1 is short, two potato items and nothing else on the whole menu.

The toppings, sauces and syrups matter because they are how a Tier 1 drink or a plain order gets built at the counter. All ten carry no Milk mark and no Egg mark.

Tier 2: meat free builds that carry milk or egg

Tier 2 is the vegetarian set in the plain sense: builds with no meat in the name or category, which may still carry Milk or Egg marks. For a lacto ovo vegetarian, egg and cheese are part of the diet, so a Contains mark in these tables does not rule the item out; it is printed so the reader can see exactly what the guide says. Strict readers should stay with Tier 1 and its stated limits.

Breakfast first. Every egg build in the guide carries Contains for both milk and egg, and the Yogurt Parfait is the one entry here with no Egg mark at all.

At lunch, the veggie wraps and bowls and the cheese builds carry the tier. The soups need a plain word: the Garden Minestrone is the build most often taken for a vegetarian soup, and the guide marks it Contains for milk and Contains for egg. The Cream of Broccoli and the Tomato Parmesan carry Milk: Contains with no Egg mark, and no soup in the guide has a clean pair of columns.

The bakery case is the biggest part of Tier 2. The five classic bagels are the near miss of the whole page: the guide gives each of them May Contain for milk and May Contain for egg, which keeps them out of Tier 1 even though neither ingredient is a Contains. The cheese bagels move milk up to Contains. Every muffin, cookie and the brownie carry Contains for both.

One more group belongs in this tier by build, and it is too big for the table: all 51 donuts and Timbits in the guide, 36 donuts and 15 Timbits. Not one is a meat build, so the whole sweet case is meat free, and every single one of the 51 carries Milk: Contains, with Egg at Contains or May Contain. None of it comes near Tier 1. The full sets sit on the Donuts and Timbits pages.

The drinks note: milk is the default build

The guide’s most useful lesson for this page is in the coffee rows. A black brewed coffee, Original Blend, Dark Roast or Decaf, carries no mark in any allergen column. The standard builds are a different story: the guide marks Milk: Contains for Regular Coffee and for Double Double Coffee, because the regular build is poured with cream. A Medium Double Double runs 194 calories the way this site builds it from the guide’s cream and sugar rows, against 4 calories for a Medium black Original Blend.

The cold coffee case runs the same way. Every iced coffee, every cold brew including the Original Cold Brew, every iced latte and every Iced Capp in the guide carries Milk: Contains as the standard build. The hot specialty case matches it: Cappuccino, Latte, Protein Latte, Coffee Mocha, French Vanilla Cappuccino, Hot Chocolate, White Hot Chocolate, Chai Latte and London Fog all carry Milk: Contains. The Frozen Lemonades sit one step softer at Milk: May Contain, the Frozen Quenchers are back at Contains, and the Whipped Topping and the Espresso Cold Foam both carry Milk: Contains. The six syrups in Tier 1 are the flavour route that adds no milk or egg mark.

One limit belongs here in plain words. Whether a plant based milk swap changes any of this is not something either official guide scores: the guides print the standard builds only. This page will not guess at a swap, so if you order one, the check to run is the one in the next section, at the counter and on the Allergens page.

How to check any item yourself

Any item on the menu can be run through the same test this page uses, in about a minute.

  1. Find the item on the Allergens page, which carries the full official guide with its search and filters.
  2. Read the Milk column and the Egg column. No mark in either is the Tier 1 test; a Contains or May Contain mark puts the item in Tier 2 ground at best.
  3. Read the name and category as well, the way the Beef Chili row forces every reader to. The marks say nothing about meat.
  4. Get the calories from the Nutrition Facts page, which carries all 346 items in the official Nutrition Guide.
  5. Keep the limits in view: the guide cannot speak to honey, to ingredients outside its columns, or to cross contact in a working kitchen.

Where these picks sit on the menu

Tier 1 drinks live on the Cold Drinks hub and the Quenchers page, and the black coffees and teas sit on the Hot Drinks hub and the Coffee page. The bakery tier is on the Baked Goods hub and the Bagels page, the breakfast builds on the Breakfast hub, and the lunch set on the Lunch hub and the Soups & Sides page. For the whole menu in one place, see the Full Menu, and for prices across the board, the Prices page, since this guide prints calories and marks only. Tim Hortons vegan options, in the end, are a short drinks list, two potato sides and a careful way of reading the guide, and this page would rather show that honestly than print a longer list the guide cannot back.

FAQs

Both, in the plain senses this page uses. The vegetarian side is the seven meat free breakfast builds in Tier 2, the egg and cheese biscuit, English muffin, wraps, box and croissant, the omelette bites and the Yogurt Parfait, each carrying Milk: Contains in the guide. The vegan side is thinner: no breakfast item is labelled vegan, and the only breakfast food with no Milk mark and no Egg mark is the Hash Brown, at 120 calories, next to the black coffees and plain teas in Tier 1.

Nothing on the breakfast board is labelled vegan. Working from the official allergen guide, the Hash Brown is the one breakfast food with no mark in the Milk or Egg columns, at 120 calories. The drinks are the stronger half: black Original Blend, Dark Roast and Decaf coffee and the plain bagged and steeped teas all carry no marks. The bagels do not make the set, because the guide marks each classic bagel May Contain for both milk and egg.

Yes. Seven breakfast builds in the guide are meat free: the Egg & Cheese Homestyle Biscuit at 350 calories, the Egg & Cheese English Muffin at 270, the Scrambled Egg & Cheese Loaded Wrap at 470, the Scrambled Egg Loaded Box at 440, the Scrambled Egg & Cheese Loaded Croissant at 410, the Spinach & Egg White Omelette Bites at 130 and the Yogurt Parfait at 250. All seven carry Milk: Contains, and all but the parfait carry Egg: Contains, which is fine for a lacto ovo vegetarian and rules them out for a vegan reader.

The guides list items, not hours, so this page answers the menu half and points to the timing half. The meat free breakfast builds and the Hash Brown sit on the breakfast board, and the Breakfast Hours page covers how long that board runs at most stores. The Tier 1 drinks are regular menu drinks rather than breakfast items, so a black coffee, a plain tea, a Classic Lemonade or a quencher is not tied to the breakfast board at all.

No soup is labelled either way, and the guide’s marks are the surprise of this page. The Garden Minestrone, the build most often taken for the vegetarian soup, carries Milk: Contains and Egg: Contains. The Cream of Broccoli and the Tomato Parmesan carry Milk: Contains with no Egg mark, so they sit in Tier 2 as meat free builds, and no soup in the guide has a clean pair of columns. The full soup set is on the Soups & Sides page.

No. All 36 donuts in the official guide carry Milk: Contains, and every one also carries an Egg mark, Contains on 17 of them and May Contain on 19. There is no donut in Tier 1, and Tim Hortons does not label any donut vegan.

No on both halves of the question, going by the official guide. Every donut row carries Milk: Contains, so no donut passes the milk test, and every donut row also carries Wheat & Gluten: Contains. A reader avoiding gluten or milk has to leave the donut case alone and work from the drinks and potato sides in Tier 1.

By build, yes: all 15 Timbits in the guide are meat free items, so they sit in Tier 2 for a vegetarian reader. They are not a vegan pick. Every Timbit carries Milk: Contains, and Egg sits at Contains on 12 of the 15 and May Contain on the other 3.

No. The official allergen guide marks Double Double Coffee as Milk: Contains, because the standard build is two creams and two sugars. On this site the Double Double runs 143, 194, 255 and 305 calories from Small to XL, built from the guide’s cream and sugar addition rows. A black Original Blend is the no marks route to the same coffee, at 3 to 5 calories by size.

The official guides cannot answer this one, and this page will not guess. The July 2026 Allergen Guide and Nutrition Guide print no matcha row at all, so there is no mark to quote either way, and the latte builds the guide does print carry Milk: Contains as standard. What can be said is on the Matcha page: the figures are Not published, and a plant based milk swap is not scored in either guide.
